In at the deep end:

P1000324-001

Our trip was Toby Coe’s first taste of fishing in Land of the Long White Cloud.  Naturally there are certain nuances concerning NZ’s trout which include timing your strike.  It’s best then to spent a few days getting to know the ropes.  Though deep raging rivers and steep sided gorges can be intimidating for a a first timer.  Thankfully, Toby’s nerve held and although he fluffed the initial trout by lifting too quickly, his nerve held for him to get towed around a pool by some decent fish.

~Gorges might be secluded, pretty places, but their very nature is that of deep pools, which test the skills of veteran fishermen let alone those on a maiden trip~

~Despite a few blips…persistence paid as Toby eventually got his mitts on New Zealand prime trout like this broad shouldered beauty~
